Free and open to the public, First Friday Downtown features new art, live music, and special events on the first Friday of every month from 5-9 p.m. at dozens of galleries, retailers and nonprofits throughout Downtown Colorado Springs.

Galleries offer in-person First Friday experiences compliant with current public health guidelines. Scroll down for a comprehensive of participating venues, updated monthly.

Five unique exhibits for September
  • Margaret Kasahara – Continuum
    • The pieces in this exhibit were created in response to daily life and often incorporate familiar objects in unexpected ways.
  • Colors of Colorado: Woven by Hand
    • An exhibit featuring works by Susan Bowman, Jeanne Steiner, Beverly Weaver, and Dottie Weir. Four local artists who are also friends, use handweaving and dyeing to create art for the wall.
  • Jean Gumpper – On the Way Back
    • Jean’s work hovers between representation and abstraction and often focuses on the edges between water and land.
  • Judith Marie – Miscellaneous 
    • Judith is always collecting happy moments in her brain and watching to find the next one.
  • Mandy Hansen – Flutter and Flow
    • Mandy’s studio practice includes watercolor paper that moves like fabric when submerged in water and translucent rice paper mounted to wood.
