ABOUT THE ARTIST
David Voth has created original artworks, under the name Davoth, for individuals, galleries, museums and commercial entities in Colorado since 1998 and has been making furniture and decor pieces under the moniker of The Splinter Project from his home studio in Denver, CO since 2009.
A series of mundane life events in the blandness of the late 90’s, brought David Voth to the point of making art to be interacted with by the society he felt so amused by. Having been a bit of a creative outsider from childhood, he felt his way along using various materials and ideological approaches, through sculpted objects, photography, paint, pencil and craft and found ways to access remote parts of himself, using often darkly clouded and thinly veiled humor as a conveyance to portray common topics and absurdities. Being first an observer, his deep respect for anomaly compels him to seek creativity above technique and concept before beauty, seeing all these things and more as important to the creative process. He endeavors to never lose his drive for adventure, artistic or experiential.
